I cannot believe how exhausting traveling can be. You really wouldn't expect it, after all you are sitting for most of the day. I guess I really shouldn't be surprised. As I reflect over the past week, the time that I have had to just sit and relax has been nearly non-existent.
The boys are behaving incredibly well. They seem to have become accustomed to our routine. They each have their little routines. When we get to a new hotel room, Tavin immediately unwraps a cup and gets a drink of water while Braxton finds the pad of paper and a pen lays down on the floor to write.
Yesterday we drove across Indiana and a good portion of Ohio. We were back on I-80, in both Indiana and Ohio it is a tollway. We grumbled a little, but it was nice in a way -- there were few onramps and exits as it seems to have been designed more for long haul traffic. This meant that we did not have to deal with local traffic even around the larger cities. They had these interesting travel plazas in place of rest stops, since if you exited and got back on I-80 you would have to pay a toll, the travel plazas had gas stations, convience stores, and fast food restaurants so you didn't have to repay the toll.
Eventually, we became so tired last night and pulled off the road and got a room at the first cheap place that we could find.
This morning we drove to a small city park on the shores of Lake Erie. It was amazing to look at it. It really looked like an ocean or sea. You could not see the opposite shore and waves were crashing on the beach.
We then visited historic Kirtland. it turns out that it was only about a mile from our hotel room. There was no other tourists there when we arrived and we were swarmed by the missionaries. The boys lapped up the attention. We watched the video at the visitor's center then visited the Newel K. Whitney store.
We then drove to Kent which was about 45 minutes away. We checked into our hotel and then took a 3 hour nap.
Tonight we went swimming. Braxton still makes us very nervous. He has no sense of self preservation was will constantly drive to swim beyond his abilities. He is progressing very fast, and he is very close to being able to tread water.
Tomorrow we will be visting Kent State. It is the first university that we are visiting and will set the bar for the rest of our visits.
